The Allegro Youth Orchestra students made their monthly visit to the Sapphire Nursing and Rehab at Goshen on Sunday, Oct. 28th. “We’ve been working on some new ‘show’ repertoire that includes ‘Give My Regards to Broadway,’ ‘Over the Rainbow,’ and ‘New York, New York.’ Max Hershkowitz played the solo violin on ‘Give My Regards to Broadway’ which was a fitting tribute since his great grandfather was a personal secretary to Irving Berlin who composed the piece! Alex Prizgintas, a cellist, also played “My Favorite Things” modeled after John Coltrane’s jazz classic 1961 recording on the album by the very same name. “It was a pleasant afternoon featuring classical, Broadway, Jazz, and even a little traditional Irish music. The young players performed with a wonderful sense of style, and most notably, passion,” explained Viktor Prizgintas who directs the young group. “With all that they do during the week, it is simply great that we can come together to entertain the residents here once a month.” Allegro will return to Sapphire on Nov. 25th.
